CUPRA for ETCR.

CUPRA is shaping the future of racing by bringing a whole new experience to the tracks. The ETCR, as its name suggests, will be the world’s first ever multi-brand electric touring car championship. And since ETCR technical regulations are based on the CUPRA e-Racer, our car will set the standard for other brands who plan to take part in the new competition.

That said, the ETCR series will admit four or five-door production touring cars, just like existing TCR models, with a single-gear and rear-wheel drive transmission. WSC Technology, a subsidiary of the WSC Group that developed the TCR, will be distributing a common supply package of motor, gearbox, inverters, as well as a battery pack with an energy capacity of 65 kWh, all adaptable to cars, including those built to TCR regulations.

To put things into perspective, we’d like to illustrate the potential of electric touring cars. We’ll use the CUPRA e-Racer as a reference. With a top speed of 270 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and battery power that can last for 40 km at full speed, the qualifications of a real race car are being redefined today. Watch the video to feel the excitement of what’s coming.

We are certain that the future of competition is in electric engines – and the ETCR is just the first step towards that path. Follow @CUPRA_Racing on Instagram to keep up with the revolution of motorsports and the first season of the ETCR taking place in 2020.
